Dr. Kim has over 25 years of experience as a practitioner of the healing arts.

With a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Kim has been practicing in the mental health field since 1998. She began working in residential treatment with adolescent males with substance abuse issues in British Columbia, Canada. She moved to California in 2000 and has been working with youth and families since 2001.

Areas of Practice


Individual Therapy

Areas of specialty include: child abuse and neglect experiences, trauma, addictions and addiction recovery, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, suicidality and self-injurious behaviors, impulsivity and compulsive behaviors, eating disorders and/or food-related issues, low self-esteem, work-related challenges and job dissatisfaction, among other things. Dr. Kim works with children as well as adults and has experience with all age ranges. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your area of concern isn’t listed here - Dr. Kim will either assist with an appropriate referral or she may be able to help you herself.


Family Therapy

Dr. Kim’s current license is as a Marriage and Family Therapist so she has completed specialty courses related to family relationships and family systems theory. Additionally, Dr. Kim has received specific training in an evidence-based family therapy model called Functional Family Therapy that has shown to be very helpful for families. Dr. Kim has experience working with couples as well as family systems. She is happy to discuss marriage/family needs in an initial consultation, if desired.


Veterans and First Responders

Working with first responders has always been a passion for Dr. Kim and while in private practice over the past few years, she has broadened this interest to include medical professionals and veterans. Dr. Kim is passionate about helping those who serve others. She has been described as “unflappable” when it comes to hearing trauma experiences from veterans and helping them process through those experiences to get to a place of greater peace. Dr. Kim has experience working with members of law enforcement and fire personnel as well. Please feel free to reach out to talk about whether she might be a good fit for you or your loved one.
